I’m delighted to invite you to Yale College Arts’ inaugural Arts Marketing Workshop at 1 PM on Friday, April 21st in SSS, 1 Prospect Street, Room 405. This is a great opportunity to learn how to grow your organization’s reach and get advice from an arts marketing professional.
Our guest speaker is Steven Padla, Yale Repertory Theatre’s Director of Communications. Mr. Padla will talk about his experience on the job and answer students’ frequently asked questions.
• How can I increase the size of my audience?
• How do I turn interest into attendance?
• What’s the best way to use social media?
• How can I get the press to cover my event?
• How do I reach people outside of my personal network?
We’ll also distribute copies of the Yale College Arts Marketing Handbook, which has been updated for the spring semester. This set of guidelines aims to help undergraduate arts organizations build their event audiences and increase their media profiles. In addition to traditional grass roots methods like creating and distributing event posters on and off campus, there are sections on writing media releases and developing relationships with the press, submitting events to online calendars, and navigating social media. There’s also a directory with contact information for Yale, local, regional, and national media outlets.
